AGNES P. MARTIN
Agnes Pauline (McMullin) Martin, 99, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on November 20; as she quietly slipped from this earth into paradise in her sleep. She was the daughter of David and Mamie McMullin, born March 15, 1912 in Guthrie County, Iowa.
She graduated from Dexter High School in 1932 and in 1935 was united in marriage to Oral Wesley Martin. To this union was born one son, Byron Alan Martin. Their married life was spent in Dexter, Iowa; first as co-owners and operators of the Elm Café and later farming near their home. Agnes later worked for the Dexter Hospital in the food service area and part time for the Kuhn Funeral Home in Dexter. She spent her later years as a resident at Karen Acres Care Facility in Urbandale, Iowa. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church and a charter member the Presbyterian Women in Dexter, Iowa and was active in the church as long as her sight allowed.
She is survived by her son Byron and his wife Judy of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; 3 grandsons, Joshua of Stuart, Iowa; Zachary of Oakland, California; Matthew and his wife Amber of West Des Moines, Iowa. She has one great grand-daughter, Cora Suzanne, and a soon to be born great grandson. She also has 4 step grandchildren, Scott Hagenkord of Olathe, Kansas; Jill Hagenkord of San Francisco, California; Cari Pendroy and Joy Olson of Monroe, Iowa and many step great grandchildren; a brother Clyde McMullin of Stuart, Iowa.

Safely Home
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder why I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! But Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
So it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in Jesus's land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
